Created for the surfers who like to golf and the golfers who like to surf. 

Single Fin Golf was inspired by founders Cole Smith and Trevor McGowan traveling around the world playing golf and surfing. Golf and surf are an unlikely crossroads, but Cole and Trevor always saw the niche community and crossover that these two opposite sports weirdly had.

Cole and Trevor grew up together in Charlotte, NC playing baseball from 8 years old all the way through high school. College sent them to different cities and searching for new adventures.

Trevor found his way to the other side of the world in Sydney, Australia where he learned to surf and started realizing how many surfers liked golf. Eventually, he made it to Queenstown, New Zealand where he worked at Jack’s Point and traveled around the South Island trying to play any course they’d let him on.

Cole spent his days chasing hurricane swells up and down the Carolina coast, and playing some of the coolest golf courses in North and South Carolina when the waves weren’t good enough. He eventually got bored and went to work as a ski bum in Tahoe at Sugar Bowl for a while just so he could snowboard as much as his heart desired.

Then, in 2020, COVID put a halt to the globetrotting and Cole and Trevor were both back in Charlotte. The next couple years of brainstorming, being too hot on the course, and terrified of wearing the regular frat uniform that is so popular here in North Carolina led to the start of this little brand.

Single Fin Golf was officially up and running in March of 2023 with one goal in mind, make cool shit that is different from the rest. Cole and Trevor will always be inspired by the classic surf style and attitude that is missing in golf, and are excited to use Single Fin Golf to spread that around the world.
