We Went to the Wrong Course

One of the Single Fin Co-Founders (Cole) invited the other Single Fin Co-Founder (Trevor) to a round of golf. But we went to different courses.

The city of Charlotte owns a handful of municipal golf courses. Two of them have extremely similar names. Those two courses are named Charles L. Sifford and Charles T. Meyers. These courses are easily 30 minutes away from each other, so mistaking one for the other is guaranteed to ruin your day.

As I rolled up to Charles T. Meyers at 3:28pm for our 3:30pm tee time, Cole informed me he had paid and was waiting on the first tee. I walked to the first tee and the 2 old men on the tee box did not resemble Cole.

Instantly, my heart sank. I assumed the worst had happened. Cole had texted me “Charles T” the day before, but had regrettably meant “Charles L”. I called Cole and our worst nightmare was confirmed.

We both left our respective golf courses and decided to meet at a buddies house to hug it out and have a beer.

We like to believe that this is a mistake that will only be made once. But, if you are in the Charlotte area and a buddy books a tee time for a Charles named golf course; I beg you to confirm the last name of that Charles to avoid a similarly horrific afternoon.
